In America, Labor Day is a federal holiday celebrated on the first Monday of September to honor and recognize the American labor movement and the works and contributions of laborers to the development and achievements in the United States. Beginning in the late 19th century, as the trade union and labor movements grew, trade unionists proposed that a day be set aside to celebrate labor. “Labor Day” was promoted by the Central Labor Union and the Knights of Labor, which organized the first parade in New York City. By the time it became an official federal holiday in 1894, thirty states in the U.S. officially celebrated Labor Day.
And, of course, most Americans celebrate this great holiday by NOT working.
But, as you know, we are not like most Americans!
A well-organized work area.
Rather, Labor Day is the perfect day to complete projects to maintain and improve your home.
Here, we see the average American worker wondering what project she should work on.

Our worker contemplates, wondering if anything here needs a good screwing, something that will get it nice and tight. Hmmmmmm.

Proper equipment is important.
Always use an OSHA-approved ladder when you must climb. Carry the ladder with both hands, ensuring you are always safe and secure.
Preparing your tools.
Place the ladder in a secure location. Assemble all the tools you will likely need.
The work is about to begin.
Normally, you would have someone standing beneath you, holding the ladder and watching you to ensure you are safe. Sadly, we could find no one to assist today, since no one is laboring today.
Getting the job done.
Now, the laborer must focus on the job. Notice how she spreads her legs to maintain a solid balance as she leans forward to service the wood.
A job well done!
Our average American laborer has a big grin on Labor Day, knowing that her efforts have brought happiness to many. It is the American way!
